Marketing Communications Manager (Ottawa, permanent)

Assist in Marketing Product Lines by participating as an integral part of
the Sales & Marketing organization.

Overview:

The primary responsibility and duties of the Marketing Communications
Manager are directed at managing all communications, advertisements and
promotions in order to create a positive corporate image, enhance the
company's visibility and increase market share. This position is described
as very hands on position, requiring exceptionally good writing skills as
well as knowledge of market positioning and ability to focus on solution
benefits not just technology features.

General Description:

As the Marketing Communications Manager, you are responsible for or will
assist with:

- Managing and controlling the marketing budget.
- Obtain key information on competition such as: Established markets, market
share per products, annual revenues by products, # of employees, strength
and weaknesses, key clients and countries. A yearly or semi-yearly report
should be produced
- Participating in the development and implementation of plans to introduce
new products that compliment the core competencies of the Company. The
development of plans to introduce new products also includes the
responsibility of developing relationships with key customers as well as
with various government agencies involved in the acquisition and investment
in product development.
- Assist in managing the Products by, researching the market; pursuing
customer feedback to identify and prioritize product features; and obtaining
agreement concerning product features, content and phasing.
- Interfacing with industry and government organizations and representing
the Company in various forums (trade shows etc.) regarding the direction of
the market and technology.
- Assisting sales personnel in the preparation of marketing material that,
on various occasions, may include presentations to qualified prospects and
to provide product information at technical exhibitions.
- Assisting, from time to time, in the preparation of Bids & Proposals by
translating, assembling quotations and documentation, photocopying, and word
processing,
- Preparing and coordinating news releases,
- Trade Show management
- Web Site management and content development,
- Managing the Marketing Data bases including; competitive data, industry
data, prospect data, customer data, and price data.
- Developing Customer newsletters and generating and distributing company
information internally.
- Work independently exercising initiative and sound decision making.
Possess good communication and interpersonal skills being able to give clear
concise direction to subordinates and convey clearly, information to
executives as required.
- Travel within and outside of Canada to a wide range of countries
throughout the world may be required. Possession of a valid passport is
required.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Give presentations and demonstrate products to customers.
- Gather and collect information on potential customers.
- Participating as required as part of the Marketing Bids & Proposals team.,
- Management and supervision of sub contractors as required, including
development of necessary statements of work;
- Co-ordinate and organize all trade shows.
- Contact relevant ATC media to inform them of our products.
- Write press releases.
- Organize press conferences.
- Create brochures.
- Create effective presentations.
- Track activities of media production, ad approvals, placements, and
billings.
- Track expenses.
- Track sales - business development activities.
- Set up a customer database.
- Identifying, analyzing requirements;
- Planning, acquiring and implementing solutions;
- Maintain relationships with customers providing them with relevant product
information and updates.
- Generating reports and returns;
- Provide liaison between marketing, sales, finance, and engineering.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice-President of
Marketing and Sales.


Requirements: (Knowledge, Skills, Ability, Training and Experience)

- Advanced academic achievement and accreditation ;
- Excellent English communications skills (written, spoken); French would be
an asset.
- Good presentation/client communication skills;
- Experience in managing, supervising and leading personnel;
- Knowledge of Air Traffic Control domain technologies;
- Experience in similar role including project management and co-ordination
experience;
- Good computer skills (office automation tools);
- Willing to travel.
